Chiang Mai, Thailand’s Northern capital, is loaded with unique and beautiful hotel options catering to luxury travelers. But, only one stands out as the best – Rachamankha.
This incredibly beautiful, quiet and serene hotel is the perfect home base for anyone exploring the area, and speaks to those who appreciate design, history and service.
Located a mere 15-minutes from Chiang Mai’s airport, the hotel is tucked into a residential neighborhood behind gates. The buildings date back to the colonial times and have been redone with well-chosen pieces of art and furniture to reflect that. As you wander through the hotel and its outdoor gardens, you will stumble into gorgeous chests, armoires, paintings and sculptures that all help tell a story.
The outdoor spaces are just as important as the interiors, as the hotel is built in an open-air plan and makes every effort to showcase its gardens through bubbling fountains, gardens, seating areas and incredibly relaxing pool with pristine white chairs and umbrellas.
I stayed at the hotel for two nights, in a large two-bedroom suite. The suite was perfection with simple and clean interiors. Dark hardwoods, white linens, bright and light bathrooms, a cozy living room and well-placed furnishings made me incredibly happy. It’s a place where you can literally just relax, and let your eye rest on something beautiful no matter which direction you turn.
My favorite part of the hotel is the food. The lunch and dinner options at the restaurant are all amazing, but the breakfast was notable. Served inside a beautiful dining room offering a menu with local Thai and international options – the breakfast was both delicious and presented in an utterly beautiful manner.
Rachamankha is the best, in my opinion. For those who appreciate the small details that make a hotel great, and with a location at the center of it all – it would be hard to find anyplace better in Chiang Mai.
