- Sala's Camp | The Maasai Mara's Most Intimate Safari Experience
Sala’s Camp is a part of Kenya’s Safari Collection – the same family as Giraffe Manor – and it offers travelers a truly comfortable and luxurious stay in one of Africa’s most iconic wilderness areas. I arrived Sala’s Camp via plane and it couldn’t have been easier. Being that the COVID-19 pandemic was in full-force, my temperature was checked upon arrival and I was welcomed by the team with a beverage, snacks and a tour of the independent, luxury tented homes that are nestled along the river bank. I was immediately impressed by the size of the rooms, with large beds, living rooms, bathrooms and closet space. The rooms are air conditioned, but also offer an open-air option to enjoy the incredibly fresh air, and sounds of the nature around. I settled-in and then was ready for my first game drive. I have traveled to the Maasai Mara before and each corner of it is expansive, unique and special. But, what differentiates your experience in the area, is the camp you choose. Sala’s Camp is a place that instantly feels warm and friendly, a welcome that brings you in to experience something very special. Arriving here is easy, 5 hours via road from Nairobi, or 45 minutes via small aircraft to an airstrip just minutes away from the camp’s entrance. I arrived Sala’s Camp via plane and it couldn’t have been easier. The rooms are air conditioned, but also offer an open-air option to enjoy the incredibly fresh air, and sounds of the nature around. I settled-in and then was ready for my first game drive. The Maasai Mara is known for its incredible wildlife sightings, and I was lucky enough to be there during migration – when thousands and thousands of wildebeests cross over from the Serengeti in Tanzania into Kenya. And, how lucky was I to be there at this time; a period that is normally booked-up years in advance. I have been on many safaris, so I know the drill. But, every time I am fortunate enough to go, I always leave even more appreciative than the last time. I jumped-in Sala’s Camp’s fully-outfitted private safari vehicle and was ready for the drive. Within the first 30 minutes, I spotted elephant, cheetah, lion, warthogs and giraffe. Wow! After my first game drive my lovely and incredibly knowledgeable guide drove me back to camp where I was invited for a cocktail on the river and to prepare myself for dinner. The food at Sala’s Camp is hearty, delicious and fresh – whether breakfast, lunch or dinner, you can expect wonderfully creative options that will make any foodie happy. My favorite meal, by far, was my second morning when my guides pulled over and cooked a full breakfast on an open flame on the savanna while I sipped coffee and watched a herd of elephant pass by. What an incredible and truly life-changing moment. The staff at Sala’s Camp were fabulous. They were warm, kind, helpful and gracious – doing everything they can do to make your stay just perfect. Rooms are kept fresh and clean, safari vehicles prepped with relevant supplies and refreshments and public areas cozy and warm. The people are what add to Sala’s Camp reputation for being one of the best, and they are an integral part of your time here. Anyone who is seeking a luxurious and comfortable safari adventure while visiting Kenya should look to Sala’s Camp. A little beacon in the Southern part of the country calling to all who appreciate the magic of the Maasai Mara’s wildlife, and truly spectacular hospitality.
- New York's Top Dry Cleaning Of 2021 | Hallak Cleaners
Hallak Cleaners , the couture cleaners, is a family-owned dry-cleaning operation with two locations in New York City and Hackensack, New Jersey. True experts in the world of fabric care, Hallak is a trusted name where some of the most discerning clientele and fashion houses bring their garments for the toughest of stains. Hallak was founded over 50 years ago by Joseph Hallak and the ethos of the company has remained true to this day – work until the job is done, clean the item like it were your own and focus on customer satisfaction. All of these principals are evident when working with the operation. Whether you have a cashmere sweater with a coffee stain, or Italian linen slipcovers from furniture that need a complete overhaul – there’s no place better. We worked with Hallak Cleaners on a large project. Linen fabric slipcovers from a cream-colored sofa and white wing chairs were in dire need of help. Over time, these beautiful fabrics had yellowed, and presented several stains that were deeply embedded into the fibers. Hallak took on the job with no hesitation, sending their lovely representative to collect the items at the space and take them for cleaning. Shortly after receiving the items we were contacted by the Hallak team to inform us that some items were suited for dry cleaning and some were in need of hand washing to prevent the fabrics from shrinking – this didn’t seem to be a problem for the Hallak team, and their work began immediately. Hallak handles projects that can be done as quickly as overnight, but this project required about three days for special love and care. We received several calls throughout the process informing us of the status of the garments and it was obvious that they would not release them until the slipcovers and pillowcases were in perfect condition. It’s no wonder the company has been the “go-to” place for stores like Barney’s, Bergdorf Goodman and fashion houses like Gucci. The family has created a true dynasty that is so much bigger than dry cleaning. The operation is more about building long-term relationships with their clients and their garments to keep them totally preserved over an extended period of time. This is a true rarity in the New York City cleaning space. Hallak Cleaners was New York City’s first dubbed “GreenEarth” cleaner for the sustainability and care for the environment in their operations. Aside from cleaning, they offer clothing storage to maintain temperatures and preserved conditions for valuable clothing a fabrics. They also offer tailoring and alterations, that truly are a cut above the rest. After three days of working on our fabrics, we received a call that the items were ready for delivery. Within a few hours, the slipcovers and small pillowcases were back at our doorstep and looked, honestly, like new. This was an impressive sight considering the stains that each piece held. What is obvious in working with Hallak Cleaners is that they care deeply and are passionate about what they do. They do not take their job lightly and customer happiness is paramount. We’ve spoken to the team many times, including the owner, and the same ethos is present in everyone on the Hallak team. In the years we have operated in New York City, we have not seen better and, at every customer touchpoint, Hallak is there with gratitude and service. All photos taken after cleaning and have not been altered.
- Aspen's Top Luxury Hotel of 2021 | Hotel Jerome
Hotel Jerome is Aspen’s top luxury hotel of 2021, hands down. The historic property, part of Auberge Resorts, sits proudly at the heart of downtown Aspen, calling all who are familiar and those who are new to its legacy and comfort. I was a guest recently at the hotel and my stay couldn’t have been better. I’ve known the hotel for years, but hadn’t visited in quite some time, and now was time to return to see renovations that had been made as well as to experience the changes implemented since the COVID-19 pandemic began. I was welcomed into the hotel by name, with a hotel driver picking me up at the airport. A thermos of freshly-brewed hotel chocolate met me at the door and check-in was both easy and speedy – which I love. One of the nice bellmen showed me to my room. As I glanced around the lobby, famed for its crackling fireplace and Western art, I felt immediately at home. The hotel offered me a one bedroom suite, which felt more like my own personal apartment. The floor-to-ceiling windows that looked out over town and Aspen mountain were impressive. Inside the room was a cozy living room, dining area and coffee station – perfect for relaxing post-ski or shopping around town. Another thermos of hot chocolate and homemade marshmallows welcomed me into the room – and I couldn’t resist. Hotel Jerome has made significant changes in their operations to keep guests safe during the pandemic. Everything has been modified to help people maintain social distance and there are sanitizing stations everywhere. Breakfast can be served in-room to minimize contact with others, which I opted for. My favorite breakfast every morning was the Jerome Breakfast, which was very American, with eggs, bacon, potatoes and avocado. Seasonal berries and coffee topped everything off. Hotel Jerome has gone through many iterations in its 132-year history. It always operated as a hotel, even from the beginning, and has seen guests from every background. One thing that has not changed in its many years of operating is its commitment to service – which is evident at every guest touchpoint. My room at the hotel was designed perfectly, offering large closets and a modern bathroom with details like marble, luxury bath products, robes and more. There was plenty space to stretch out and unpack, which is always a treat. Hermes bath products definitely elevated the experience and they were refreshed with every room cleaning. My bed at Hotel Jerome was like a cloud. The room was outfitted with photography and soft fabrics. Each night, my bed was turned-down and I was able to cozy-up with my television and a book – and just drift off. Each morning I awoke to the light reflecting off the mountain’s snow, and views over Aspen as it woke from its slumber, too. My very favorite spot of Hotel Jerome, aside from the heated outdoor pool or even the modern fitness center, is The Living Room. Here you can order delicious cocktails and casual fare while sitting back in front of a crackling fire after skiing or a day out in the nearby trails. Of course Hotel Jerome offers J-Bar for cocktails as well or an elevated dinner experience at Prospect, but The Living Room gets all my love. I ate at The Living Room several times while in town and enjoyed everything from tuna tacos to the most delicious burger assembled from Colorado beef. My favorite appetizer, without question, were the spicy-glazed boneless chick wings, which are literally life changing. How can I ever eat a normal chicken wing again? Hotel Jerome is special. It’s not just the place to see and be seen, but it truly does feel like your home when you’re a guest here. Everyone seems to remember your name and privacy is paramount. It’s easy, but nice. It’s luxurious, but comfortable. The next time you’re headed to Aspen, stay here and you are guaranteed to leave with memories that last a lifetime.
- The Hippos Are Invited To Dinner
Hippo Point is a private residence located within “The Retreat” luxury camp in a remote area of Tanzania called, The Selous. The Selous is Africa’s largest game reserve and encompasses an area the size of Switzerland. It is wild, untamed and one of the least traveled parks in the region. The Retreat, a superb and luxurious camp perched high on a mountain overlooking the forested plains and river, offers Hippo Point as a place for those seeking the ultimate in seclusion and privacy a getaway from it all. The name was picked because of its close proximity to the river and because that very river is, usually, full of boisterous hippos. One experience that is a “must” at The Retreat, for any guest, is dining privately on the stone terrace beside the river at Hippo Point. The hotel organizes bartenders, servers, music and a fire for your enjoyment. Dinner, three to five courses, is served in the most elegant way possible as you enjoy the sounds of the hippos playing nearby and watch the sun set behind the horizon. Between the incredible scenery, the close proximity to wildlife and the truly scrumptious food – this is one experience that will open your eyes to something completely unique and will be an evening you’ll never forget.
- America's Top Hair Restoration Expert | Varona Hair Restoration
In an evolving world of medical technology and beauty procedures that can be done to enhance your physical appearance, it’s important to choose your doctor or practitioner wisely. Many may be educated in the field at hand but when it comes to who will help you look your very best; you need that perfect combination of doctor and artist. One of those doctors, who specializes in the intricate practice of hair restoration, is Christopher Varona, of Newport Beach, California, and his clinic Varona Hair Restoration . Now, Dr. Varona’s focus is on something very special and very technical – manual hair restoration. His unique and dedicated approach, as well as his commitment to doing the procedure himself and by hand, has earned him a stellar reputation in the field. He has helped men and women alike to get their looks back through his passion for hair, as he is someone who has been through the procedure himself. Dr. Varona uses no programs or machines and insists on doing the entire surgery himself, which can sometimes last a grueling 12 hours. But, his work speaks for itself and he wouldn’t have it any other way. I am a patient of Dr. Varona’s – and I’m proud to say that. In order to understand the journey I have gone on with Dr. Varona, you must first understand my particular case. I was born with a lot of hair – too much hair in fact. My hair grows so fast that I spend a small fortune every ten days keeping it in-check, and in perfect form to always present myself, as I want to be seen. But, around the age of 25, I began to notice that my hairline, at the front of my head, was beginning to recede. I didn’t notice thinning or other hair loss at the top or back of my head, just a clear recession at the hairline and on the sides of my face, near my temples. The older I grew (I’m now 35) I realized something had to be done to restore my hairline and halt the recession in its tracks. I have worked so hard on my skin and put a great deal of effort into my appearance on a daily basis, that I just couldn’t bare the thought of having my looks foiled by an unchecked receding hairline. I knew hair restoration was an option – but, to be honest, I was a bit scared of it. I have only known two individuals who have had it done, and they had a strip of their scalp removed at the back of their head, a procedure called FUT, and I was hesitant to have a large scar. I began to research, and came across Dr. Varona – who had glowing reviews. After perusing his before and after gallery, I realized he just might be the right person to help me with my dilemma. I could tell just from the photographs of him on his various digital platforms that he was kind, talented and exuded good energy. I was correct. I contacted his office and scheduled a consultation, which was done over Facetime as I am based in New York City and he is based on the sunny shores of Orange County. I spoke with him and his husband, Eduardo, who is also his business partner and manages Dr. Varona’s caseload. They were both lovely, and looked through pictures I had sent of my hairline and listened, attentively, to what my goals were. I wanted to bring my hairline down an inch, and fill-in the side recession to give myself a more youthful appearance. At the end of the call, after a detailed explanation of the procedure and what the outcome would look like, we scheduled an appointment for surgery and targeted nearly 4,000 individual hair follicles that would be taken from the back of my head, one by one, using Dr. Varona’s proprietary method, and transplanted in my front hairline. I was both excited and nervous – but felt that I was in truly capable hands. Aside from his kindness, Dr. Varona’s explanation of the procedure and his clear desire to help me look my best was obvious. I couldn’t wait until the day of my surgery. In the next article I will present more detailed before photos as well as the surgery process, to explain exactly what Dr. Varona did and why it’s so successful. The journey has been fairly easy for me and each day more exciting than the last in terms of hair growth and the evolution of my appearance. * This is the first article of a three-part series on the journey of hair restoration with Varona Hair Restoration
- A Respite For Relaxation In Southern California | Four Seasons Hotel Westlake Village
Tucked into the Santa Monica mountains, an ideal location just forty minutes from Los Angeles and a stone’s throw inland from the beaches of Malibu, sits a contemporary hotel that exudes wellness – the Four Seasons Hotel Westlake Village . This property, which offers several different room categories from stunning suites to well-appointed guest rooms, is an unexpected surprise waiting to be discovered. If you’ve been to L.A. and want a more calm and cool environment to hang your hat while in town, look no further than Westlake Village. Here you can base yourself close to it all, yet feel a world apart in a cocoon of socially-distanced luxury. I stayed at the property for two nights recently and absolutely loved it. In true Four Seasons style, a warm welcome greeted me upon check-in. New safety measures and Four Seasons’ branded “Lead with Care” initiative ensures that all guests feel safe and are protected during very uncertain times. Upon entering the hotel temperature checks are in place and the ability to sanitize is literally everywhere, while being seamlessly integrated into the California-Asian inspired decor. The Four Seasons Westlake Village checked-me-in promptly and I was shown to a beautiful suite with views over the lawns and the iconic waterfall which takes center stage in the rear of the property. looking-out over the pink-hued mountains gave a total sense of peace and tranquility. And, part of tranquility for me is trying innovative and delicious cuisine. While on property I was fortunate to try the incredible food that the hotel is known for. The property offers everything you can imagine in culinary excellence. Coin and Candor is just off the lobby and invites guests to enjoy hearty breakfasts, brunches and more elevated yet casual fare that is cooked in true Californian style using locally-sourced ingredients. You can dine inside or out, I prefer out, as the views of the property are an added benefit. In the mornings, if you decide not to take advantage of in-room dining, guests can stop by Stir, which is also off the lobby, for a freshly baked pastry and artisan coffee – all of which are delicious. If you’re in the mood for delicious Japanese-inspired cuisine, Onyx is a hit. The dining room offers wonderful tasting menus and sushi, created by true sushi masters. Poolside dining is also available in one of the private cabanas or elsewhere, so guests, especially those with children, can keep everyone fed while splashing around in the water. Over my time at the Four Seasons Westlake Village I was very impressed by the efforts made to minimize contact, emphasize social distancing and certain protocols, especially with food, designed to keep everybody safe and sound. This hotel really focuses on wellness. Whether you’d like a daily workout in the newly created outdoor gym, a private yoga class or a guided hike in the mountains – the property lends itself to those who are looking for a little activity. Spa services are available as well, in a modified capacity, for guests who are seeking a bit of pampering. Of course this can change with any new restrictions imposed by the state, but the Four Seasons Westlake Village keeps on top of the latest regulations and requirements of Ventura County. The spa offers indulgent massages, facials, scrubs and more. Over my two days on site, I just fell in love with the effortlessness and ease of being here. The sounds of the waterfall, the quiet of the lawns and gardens and the beauty of the rooms. I spent a good amount of time in my room and loved the large bathrooms, ample closets, Four Seasons robes and slippers and, of course, incredibly cozy beds to watch my favorite Netflix shows in late at night. For anyone in search of true luxury in the Los Angeles area, but looking for something new and a different area to discover, like beautiful Westlake Village, the Four Seasons is it. They help define Westlake Village as a destination unto itself and do their part to familiarize guests with all the sites and sounds that might not yet be familiar to you. Once you experience it, you’ll find that this place is really something special.
- A Boutique Vineyard That Takes The Cake For 2021 | Copia Vineyards
Copia Vineyards , owned by Varinder and Anita Sahi, is a dynamite operation on California’s Central Coast – putting forth a small but stunning variety of wines into a market ready to receive them. In the span of five years, Copia Vineyards has made a big name for itself and its wines have won innumerable awards. Their poetic approach to winemaking and their operation through the lens of gratitude is obvious, setting forth a clear path to success now and in the future. Anita and Varinder’s journey together began in 2015 so, if success has reached them so soon, there’s no telling what the future holds. I recently had the privilege to taste some of their offerings as was completely blown away with their product. Copia established their Copia Estate Vineyard in 2019 but have been sourcing their grapes from some of the area’s top grape growing properties, 12 of them in fact. The varying microclimates and elevations of vineyards in the paso Robles area as well as Santa Barbara County create nuances that are unique to Copia wines. There’s something about Anita and Varinder’s selection, along with their hospitality manager, Sarah Boone, that have made this wine-making moment blossom for them. The Copia Estate Vineyard is planted with Syrah, Grenache, Mourvédre, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petite Verdot. Their other vineyard partners offer grapes cultivated in unique growing conditions that add to the complexity of all Copia wines. I received the following wines from Copia, and fell in love with every single one of them. Below are the wines and my thoughts on the product. Copia 2017 “The Story” The Story is a Grenache-dominated blend with grapes hailing from the Willow Creek District of Paso Robles. In this wine, from the terroir, you will taste oceanic influences from the Pacific as well as juicy notes and minerality that make for an incredible flavor. The taste is sweet and spicy and incredibly smooth. The wine is full-bodied with ripe red fruit and tart berry. This wine is fabulous on its own or with food. The wine is typically rested for 20 months before release and is derived from grapes picked in September and October. Copia 2017 “The Cure” The Cure is Copia’s take on the Rhône’s classic Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The grape varietals, mainly Grenache and Syrah, are grown in the Central Coast’s Edna Valley, Willow Creek District and Santa Barbara County. Following traditional Rhônes, cassis will perfume the glass and flavors of chocolate, spice and slight wood might be noticed with a smooth finish. You might also taste elements of pepper, blackberry and deep red fruits as you sip this. I absolutely fell in love with this wine on its own without anything needing to be paired. Copia 2017 “The Source” An elegant wine composed of 90% Syrah, The Source comes to life from the area’s cool climate which brings out spice and earthiness, while still remaining very drinkable on its own. Wine lovers will notice notes of white pepper and incense, while tasting firmly, dark red fruit without a jammy flavor. This is the perfect wine for a fatty red meat like lamb or duck. Copia 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon I love Cab…and this one stunned me. Composed of grapes from the warmer Santa Ynez Valley’s “Happy Canyon”. This wine is incredibly drinkable and elegant, rich and silky – with notes of tobacco and blue fruits. What you might notice here is a full body, yet a soft and easy wine that is perfect on its own or with food. This is my favorite cab I have tried this year – hands down. After experiencing Copia Vineyard’s offerings and seeing their true dedication and understanding of the art of winemaking, I am truly astounded by what they’ve done in such a short time and am excited for the future. The family and small team here are passionate about what they do and, it seems, were drawn to Paso Robles from the Midwest with a higher purpose in mind. Their wines are not just loved by me, but are rated incredibly high by publications like Wine Enthusiast and Connoisseur’s Guide. Wine lovers can visit Copia Vineyards for a tasting or even a stay. They offer tastings in their tasting room and overnight stays in the Willow Creek District area of Paso Robles at their guesthouse. For TRUE red wine lovers – this is a vineyard and winemaking operation that must be on your 2020-2021 bucket list. Now is the time to go before the secret is out – the wines are just THAT good.
- St. Barth Most Luxurious Private Villa | Coco Rock
Situated in the wild and beautifully raw part of St. Barth, Villa Coco Rock stands out as one of our very favorite private villa rentals on the island. A destination of perfection with its stunning beaches, vibrant nightlife and phenomenal food scene, St. Barth calls to those looking for sun, sand and fun – especially now during global lock downs as a result of COVID-19. Villa Coco Rock offers a stunning respite behind secure gates and amongst swaying palms, with views out to the sparkling sea. I visited this villa recently and fell absolutely in love with its ease, layout and property. Offering six bedrooms, all with en-suite bathrooms, this villa is ideal for a family or gathering of friends. Now, more than ever, traveling with the same trusted group or family members has never been more important, and Coco Rock offers a safe and relaxing spot to call home while on the island of St. Barth. I arrived on the island early in the afternoon and was immediately sent a text message by the villa concierge to welcome me. She offered to meet myself and my colleagues at the airport upon arrival, but I wanted to drive myself as I had planned to rent a vehicle. She promptly send me a video with easy-to-follow directions and, in roughly 15 minutes, I found myself in the breezy area of Toiny, at the base of a driveway leading-up to Coco Rock. As the gate slid open, it was clear that Coco Rock was built incredibly well. It feels like a large compound where one may travel to with family or friends, but each of the bedrooms are private. In fact, there are several areas tucked away within the grounds as well as lawns and cactus gardens to spend a little alone time. The villa owner had warmly welcomed me via WhatsApp and a daily housekeeper provided for the length of the stay. She offered pre-arrival shopping, which is available upon request as well. As the concierge met me at the gates and helped me get settled, I instantly loved everything I saw – from the design to the view. Coco Rock features an incredible concrete open-air kitchen with large island, carved wood dining table and appliances for self-cooking or for hiring a chef. The kitchen is ideally just near the infinity pool deck, which holds a covered pavilion, lounge chairs and tables to set the mood for a water moment to remember. All of this peers out over the expanse of grounds and sea. The office, just off the kitchen, has a large flatscreen television, sitting area, Apple TV, books, games and more to keep you entertained at home. Of the six bedrooms, one is a master suite located just below the driveway with a private garden and the other four are located at varying elevations for privacy – all connected through gardens, walks and decks. There really is no “better” room as they are all large and offer something unique. Standard features include television, air conditioning and wifi in every room. Bathroom details include monogrammed bath and beach towels, sitting chairs, outdoor rain showers and ample closet space. Beds are phenomenal and cozy, dressed in an elegant melange of white and turquoise. There’s nothing life showering, day or night, in a gorgeous outdoor rain shower, with the sound of birds calling. St. Barth offers fairly perfect weather outside of hurricane seasons, making an outdoor shower always a good idea. Relaxing at Coco Rock is the primary activity on the itinerary. But, if you choose to venture further afield, you are a mere 15 minutes from most sights, tastes and sounds on the island – yet have the privilege to be in an area where hiking to the nearby natural pools or walking down to the beach in front of Le Toiny are just outside your door. I’ve been to St. Barth on many occasions and know the island well. Things have changed a bit due to COVID-19, but the essence remains the same and the island is doing an excellent job of managing it. All entering must present a negative PCR COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of arrival. And, if you stay one week or longer, being re-tested on the island is mandatory. But, in true French style, once these protocols are met – you can focus on making a fabulous cheese board, which I did every night while a guest a Coco Rock. For anyone seeking the most beautiful villa in the most incredible spot, Coco Rock really will not disappoint. You will want to return again and again. The ease of it all and the care put into your stay by the owner, and whichever of the several villa rental services that present it, is incomparable. I suggest traveling to this villa with those you love, because many good memories will be made. After an afternoon in the pool, glass of rosé in hand, it will be difficult for you not to fall in love with this place.
- West Florida's Top Luxury Resort | The Marco Beach Ocean Resort
The Marco Beach Ocean Resort is the perfect place to hunker down this autumn when you’re in need of a beautiful environment, fantastic service, delicious food and a stunner of a beach. Located right on the glimmering Gulf of Mexico on famed Marco Island, this property offers 103 rooms and suites, a rooftop pool, spa, fitness center and beach club. I stayed here recently for a long weekend and was not only impressed with the way this hotel handled safety protocol surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, but I was impressed with just how at-home I felt. Upon entering the lobby of the Marco Beach Ocean Resort I was happy to see staff in masks, plexiglass barriers at the front desk and sanitizing stations in multiple locations. Check-in was swift and I was immediately taken to a large one-bedroom suite with large terrace directly on the ocean. What I loved about the suite was that it was comfortable, elegant and I immediately felt like I had stayed there before. There was a kitchenette within the room as well, and this was very convenient for keeping extra beverages stored and snacks stored. I explored the property over two days at the Marco Beach Ocean Resort and spent a good amount of time of the beach. Florida’s West coast is known for its sugar-like sand and clear waters, which are perfect to spend the day lounging on. The resort’s restaurant services the beach and the staff are prompt in brining fabulous cocktails and delicious bites for snacking. Even the staff of the beach spot masks, which made every guest feel very comfortable. Chairs and towel service are offered on the beach and guests can even take advantage of activities like jet skiing. For those who prefer a pool environment, the rooftop pool at the Marco Beach Ocean Resort is perfect. Slather yourself with sunscreen, catch some rays and dip in and out of the cool waters to stay refreshed. Marco Island offers bike riding, boating, fishing and quiet walks around the streets to see some of the beautiful homes. The Marco Beach Ocean Resort is located in the perfect position to access all of these things – which I had the pleasure of taking advantage of. Evenings are best spent getting ready in your suite and then heading downstairs for a cocktail and dinner at Sale E Pepe . Executive Chef Andrea Cirino has conceptualized menus from his native Southern Italy, which are fantastic. Guests can choose a special bottle from a list containing over 500 labels and then lean-into some of the best Italian food you’ll have in Florida. I experienced the menus firsthand and each dish was comforting, delicious and created with elegance. You’ll find familiar items like burrata, carbonara, ravioli and risotto; as well as choice cuts of beef and fresh seafood. Endings at the Marco Beach Ocean Resort aren’t as sweet as the desserts at Sale E Pepe. Why? Because you won’t want to leave. Every staff member strives to make your stay special and the property itself is effortless, so you can truly let go and relax. A weekend here is the perfect mix of quiet, fun and indulgence – which are things I think we all need right now.

Dr. Ellen Marmur , the leading dermatologist behind Marmur Medical in New York and now MM3 Beach Bungalow in Water Mill, New York, is the top dermatologist in the area for 2020. With an array of credentials to her name, Dr. Marmur is an Associate Clinical Professor in both the Department of Dermatology and the Department of Genetics & Genomic Research at The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Running two offices in New York City, she’s been used to bopping around town and seeing patients who look to her for the latest of dermatological innovation. But, when COVID-19 hit, Dr. Marmur wanted to safely offer her patients a place to explore cosmetic treatments and do so in a luxury-minded, open-air environment. So, she opened a bungalow of sorts in chic Water Mill to cater to those who regularly shuttle between the city and The Hamptons. The area is well-equipped with everything from fillers (of every kind), Botox, Kybella, LED rejuvenation, a facial station, body treatment station, CoolTone (muscle toning from CoolSculpting), massage and more. We thought it might be a paired-down version of her usual offerings in the city, but Dr. Marmur never does anything half-way. MM3 Beach Bungalow offers a repertoire of treatments that will help you reach your full beauty potential. As always, Dr. Marmur was attentive and kind, sweet and funny. She analyzed my face like the true artist she is and through a series of injections of Botox, Restylane Silk, Kybella under the chin and Radiesse – I left looking near flawless. She takes her time and is sensitive to every patient’s needs and desires when it comes to their looks. And, bruising? Not one. - Socially-Distanced Luxury In America's Southwest | Four Seasons Resort Rancho Encantado Santa Fe
The Four Seasons Resort Rancho Encantado Santa Fe is the perfect place for a luxury, socially-distanced getaway. In today’s ever evolving and rebuilding travel landscape, travelers are seeking destinations and properties that offer space, fresh air, a commitment to sanitization and cleanliness, all without sacrificing on the luxury hotel experience. This property, tucked cozily at the foot of the Sangre de Cristo mountains ten minutes from downtown Santa Fe, offers just that. Set on 57 acres with only 65 private standalone “casitas”, the Four Seasons is a respite for those looking to reconnect with themselves, nature and indulge in culinary, wellness and activity offerings that will blow your mind. I stayed at the property recently as it was the first trip I took post Coronavirus lockdown. Naturally, I was nervous about my first jaunt since the global pandemic ravaged the travel industry and virtually shut-down most of the world’s economies. But, I knew that if anyone could understand the new requirements, mandates and traveler concerns and desires – it would be the Four Seasons. I arrived for a three night stay, flying-into the nearby airport and driving a short 20 minutes to the property. I arrived in the evening, so it was very dark. But, I was instantly mesmerized by the incredible stars that filled the night sky as the front desk manager led me to my casita. What I noticed instantly was the touch free check-in, social distance reminders elegantly placed around the lobby and the modifications made to keep guests safe and comfortable. My casita was warm and welcoming, and I immediately felt at home. Large and spacious, the room was cozy with an adobe-style fireplace in the corner, flickering with orange flames. The decor is very American-Southwest with Native American influences, color-schemes and materials, in the most elegant way. Outfitted with the most sumptuous beds, flatscreen televisions, desk, sitting area, outdoor patio, large bathrooms with rain showers, bathtubs and charging stations – there’s nothing you’ll want for here. The Four Seasons Resort Rancho Encantado Santa Fe thinks of everything. Of course, in my closet I found a lovely pair of slippers and a bathrobe. Nearby was a well-stocked mini bar, a welcome bottle of Carbernet Sauvignon and a cheese board. On my second evening at the property I was surprised with a s’mores kit so I could roast marshmallows in my fireplace and make the campfire favorite with graham crackers and chocolate. I woke-up refreshed the next morning and ready to start my day, exploring everything the area has to offer. Enjoying a Nespresso on my outdoor patio was perfect and after a quick walk to reception I found myself at Terra Restaurant for breakfast. I have to say for any fan of authentic New Mexican cuisine, with Mexican and international flavors that utilizes local, fresh ingredients – you will be in heaven. The food here is absolutely incredible and each dish is more remarkable than the last. Breakfast might consist of local blue corn pancakes, banana french toast served in a skillet or huevos rancheros. I tried all of the dishes and there wasn’t one that I didn’t love. I was even visited by the property’s general manager, Mr. Bixente Pery, who wanted to ensure that every guest was having a remarkable experience. During every meal I enjoyed on property, I was incredibly delighted to see staff wearing masks, gloves and encouraging as low-contact delivery as possible. Even through the masks I could see smiles and the overall attitude was that of pure service. In true Four Seasons style, the staff here will do whatever they can do to ensure everyone has a phenomenal experience – and that hasn’t changed because of a pandemic. The Four Seasons Resort Rancho Encantado Santa Fe has quite a history as a private ranch, owned and operated by a woman named Betty Egan. The ranch was a dream and Betty built it out of pure love, joy and a desire to create a particular place where being a cowboy was okay and each person who experienced it left enchanted. Some famous guests of the time when Betty owned the property included Princess Grace of Monaco, Robert Redford and others. The Four Seasons took over management of the property after it was sold and added their own touch of perfection. Guests of the property can spend their days meandering through the galleries of Santa Fe, hiring a guide from the resort’s adventure center to hike through the mountains, which I did. Or. guests can simply lounge by the year-round pool – which now requires a reservation to comply with social distancing mandates and safety guidelines. As things begin to reopen, you can enjoy one of the largest and best spas in the Southwest, located right on site. I enjoyed an hour-long massage which was heaven. My therapist wore a mask and face shield the entire time and washed her hands frequently. Everything on-property has been redesigned to be individualized, to keep people safe and sound during a time of uncertainty. What I loved most about the Four Seasons Santa Fe is just the freedom and space it affords one to relax. The air here is different, fresh and fragrant. The sun, as it bounces off the mountain peaks at every sunset, offers illumination on not only the surrounding area but throughout each public space of the property. You can lose yourself at this place, in the best of ways, and keep to yourself – without really seeing many other people if you should so choose. After a scrumptious dinner at Terra watching the night sky roll-in after yet another incredible sunset I realized just how perfect Rancho Encantado is, in every way. For anyone seeking the opportunity to get away and rejuvenate after what feels like an eternity of being inside – you won’t find a better place.
- New York's Top Laser Hair Removal | Romeo & Juliette Laser Hair Removal
Located on Manhattan’s East 57th Street between 5th Avenue and Madison Avenue is one of the city’s top destinations for laser hair removal, Romeo & Juliette Laser Hair Removal . Throughout town, there are many options when addressing unwanted body hair – whether you’re male, female or transgender. Everyone can relate to having hair pop-up in places that are less than flattering, and everyone can relate to the deep desire many of us have to perfect ourselves in every way we can. Romeo & Juliette Laser Hair Removal not only stands out because of their wide range of services offered, but the experience from start to finish when going through the necessary steps to remove our unwanted hair. As the business recently reopened under strict New York State and CDC guidelines put into place due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, their operation is safer than ever, ensuring that each client’s health and well-being are looked after. I experienced the clinic on many occasions, receiving seven treatments to rid my upper beard area and armpits of unwanted hair that had been plaguing me since puberty. The location offers five lasers technicians will choose from, each with its own specifications. I didn’t know what to expect as this was the first time I had ever engaged in laser for hair removal. I had stuck to the razor for decades, left with horrible rash, razor burn, ingrown hairs and other unsightly aftermath due to traditional shaving. From my very first appointment, the process was explained to me by the technicians at Romeo & Juliette Laser Hair Removal, which made everything run very smoothly. Romeo & Juliette Laser Hair Removal offers their clients the latest technology in laser. Targeting each follicle on my face and in my armpits, in selected areas, the lasers incinerate the hairs, permanently damaging them and making it harder to grow again. The process is easy, and I wasn’t sure it would be as I have tan/dark skin. But the new technology allows for the lasers to be used on dark skin tones as well. I received seven treatments over the course of seven months, and found that my hair slowly began to recede. My technicians were very nice and made sure I was comfortable throughout the process. I have to say it was much less painful than waxing, even. Over my seven treatments, the hair decreased in growth by roughly 90% – making a massive difference in my life. No more worrying about bumps, rashes or ingrown hairs. For anyone looking to make a change in 2020 and beyond, getting rid of those hairs that have been a nuisance for years, opt for laser. Romeo & Juliette Laser Hair Removal is the best in New York, and you will never regret the time you spent in their office.
