  • Brooklyn's Top Hair Colorist | Ann Marie Causey

Ann Causey and her Too Shy Studio are a refreshing and talented take on hair color, offered on a lively block in Brooklyn’s Bedstuy neighborhood. I was a recent client of Ann’s and met her on the street level of her walk-up studio one Sunday morning in Brooklyn. I had heard about Ann’s talents from a friend and from online articles raving about her ability to bring life, fun and whimsy to anyone’s strands. I was in need of a change and wanted to bring something interesting and new to my look that differed from the blonde highlights I typically lean towards. Ann worked me into her busy schedule and soon I was in her chair ready to get her opinion on what might work for my face. Ann is known to offer unique and interesting colors for her clients daring to do something bold and unique. Of course she can do your typical blondes, browns and other colors - she is often sought-out for pops of orange, pink, blue and other unique shades that can be done incredibly right, or wrong, depending on the colorist. I had a particular vision to bring a copper highlight to my medium brown hair to add not only a little lightness, but to also do something a bit out of the norm for me. I think copper is a pretty color and adds a caramel-esque vibe when your base color is nearly chocolate. Ann is soft spoken at first and naturally introverted, so one can see where her “Too Shy” branding comes from. But, once you begin talking color, she is in her element and ready to get her hands dirty. We agreed on the copper/caramel color for my highlights and she mixed a base to give my gray hair a pop of chocolate to serve as a nice base. She was soon mixing bleach that she hand-applied to the ends and watched vigilantly to be sure it lifted to just the right level to achieve the caramel/copper she was looking for. Once the color set and was rinsed, Ann mixed a custom toner to apply to my freshly highlighted hair. The result was the perfect copper/caramel shade that gave me something new, different, edgy and fun. I loved it. I spent roughly three hours with Ann and met her adorable puppy that she rescued from Taiwan. She is warm, engaging and truly passionate about what she does - willing to go the extra mile to make her clients happy. I spoke to her about possibly going for rose gold next time, and I’m still considering it. I know she will be the right person to go to for that particular transformation.

  • New York's Ultimate Wellness Destination | Reviv

Located in New York City’s Flatiron neighborhood, Reviv is a one-stop-shop for wellness. Whether you’re looking for a hangover cure, a vitamin boost or an overall wellness check-in – this clinic is your place to truly revitalize every part of your body, from the inside out. I was feeling a little listless and tired and began searching for a place to get a vitamin drip in New York. Many places popped-up on Google for me to explore, but something stood out about Reviv. I had tried various places around the world when I had a few many cocktails the night before, but this was not the reason for my visit to Reviv. I just wanted to improve my overall sense of well-being. Reviv offers guests one time treatments and packages that focus on addressing various ailments. You can stop-in for a quick vitamin injection – like Vitamin B, CoQ10 or others. Or, you can stop-in for something more intensive, which is what I did. Reviv’s website offers a menu of IV treatments and I opted for the Royal Flush, which promised to clean out your liver, kidneys and boost your vitamin levels. The Royal Flush promises to boost hydration and your immune system while replenishing vitamins and minerals, decreasing pain, nausea and cleanses your vital organs. The IV treatment is perfect if you’re suffering from an extreme hangover, allergies or exhaustion. I arrived for my appointment and filled-out a quick intake form on an iPad before being led into my private room. I was seated in a large black massage chair where I was promptly hooked-up to two bags of fluids, administered one at a time. My veins and body were clearly in need, because they absorbed the fluids very quickly. The friendly staff at Reviv came-in every fifteen minutes to check-in on me. Towards the end of the treatment, I received a shot of Glutothione – a super antioxidant for your liver. I have to say the experience was fantastic and I felt better, instantly. Over the next few days, that feeling of overall wellness persisted and I was so happy I decided to stop-in. If you’re in New York and want to give yourself a boost or recover from an ailment, don’t miss Reviv.

  • America’s Top Wine Operation 2023 | Beringer

Since 1876 Beringer Vineyards has stood as an icon in Napa Valley, California, consistently delivering a wide range of product to every wine lover’s palate. As a state designated California landmark, Beringer is the oldest continually operating vineyard in the valley and each year it continues to diversify its offerings while staying true to the core of its existence – good wine. Although Beringer has changed hands over the years from the original family to Nestlé and then others, its never strayed from utilizing the expertise of their winemakers to make a permanent mark on wine culture throughout the United States and the world. Beringer offers a wide range of labels under their umbrella company and each serves as a boutique experience within an experience, bringing its drinkers close for an unbridled look at what makes that particular variety special. On site, Beringer’s tastings are designed to suit everyone’s needs and introduce them to something new and unexpected. A few of my favorites include the Knights Valley Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2019 and the Winery Exclusive Chardonnay 2019. What I love about each is the drinkability whether paired with food or just on their own. Rich, smooth and complex – Beringer’s product, especially their reserve wines, are exceptional. This couldn’t be achieved without the chief winemaker and general manager, Ryan Rech. We spoke with Mr. Rech and asked him questions we had about his wines, Beringer’s future plans and the uniqueness of what the operation does in the industry. IC: Beringer has such an incredible history in California. What is your unique approach with wine, as chief winemaker, that is different than those who held that role before you? RR: Founded in 1876, Beringer is the oldest continuously operating winery in Napa Valley (having operated through Prohibition making wine for religious purposes). We are a leader in the AVA with several “firsts,” namely one of the first gravity fed facilities and among the first to operate using hand-dug caves and cellars; the first to give public tours in 1934, starting a Napa Valley hospitality tradition; and, most notably, the first winery to have both a red and a white wine named #1 Wine of the Year by Wine Spectator Magazine . At Beringer, I’m fortunate to work in some of Napa Valley’s finest vineyards, and I want the characteristics of this land to show through in my wines. There are several actions we take in the vineyard to make incredible wines with a sense of place, but foremost is creating a healthy environment for our vines by preserving natural habitat, improving soil health, and conserving our water resources. My approach to winemaking is similar—I practice minimal intervention to showcase the beautiful fruit that comes from our estates. Color, Clarity and Focus are today some of my guideposts when I am creating these wines and I try to stay open-minded as I engage with what the season and each vineyard site brings me. With Beringer’s trailblazing legacy in both Napa Valley and Knights Valley, I feel an honor and responsibility to strike a balance between preserving the traditions that have come to define this historic brand, while also pushing the boundaries of creative winemaking to ensure that we are always at the forefront of the latest innovations. IC: Beringer has such a diverse portfolio of wine that it offers consumers. Is there one common thread or ethos that runs through everything they produce? RR: Our unrelenting commitment to quality has always been at the heart of everything we do at Beringer. Obviously, our pioneering efforts to establish premiere vineyard sites in Napa Valley and Knights Valley is one example, but there have been incredible advancements in winemaking over the past 145-plus years. In 1977, Beringer began fermenting Chardonnay and Cabernet in French oak barrels. In 1989, Beringer launched the first formal research and sensory evaluation program. And today, we continue to push sustainability forward with a plan to transition to one hundred percent renewable electricity by 2024 and a bold target of net zero emissions by 2030. This focus on sustainability means we’ve gotten groundbreakingly creative in developing several new technologies to use our precious resources wisely. For example, recaptured rainwater at our winery ultimately helps cool our tanks during fermentation; and a new technology system, allows the entire winemaking team to manage every step of the winemaking process in real-time and in great detail from anywhere. It’s the largest and most comprehensive system in the wine industry, helping us not only achieve the highest quality but also save us money and energy. IC: What is special or unique about the Knights Valley wines? RR: We like to call Knights Valley “Cabernet’s best-kept secret.” Beringer has been, and continues to be, a pioneer in Knights Valley, first establishing vineyards there in the mid-1960s. We were a key driver in garnering official recognition for the area as a premier wine growing region in the form of its own AVA designation in 1983. Located 17 miles north of our Napa Valley-based winery, in the northeastern corner of Sonoma County, our Knights Valley Vineyard features volcanic, well-drained soils that are perfect for growing high-quality wine. It’s largely farmland and wilderness, and, back in the day, it was home to a hunting lodge. The rocky soils there create a unique, high-quality Cabernet Sauvignon with flavors that are a bit “wilder” than the “refined” flavors of Napa Valley. IC: What is your favorite part of the wine making process? RR: I love the seasonality of winemaking. Growing grapes, making wine, blending, bottling – it’s all tied to the season. There are constants in the winemaking process like the vineyards, the style of wine I want to make, but it’s all the variables that the season gives us that intrigues me every year. The wines we make do reflect every vintage but it’s my job to highlight that and stay true to the vineyards I get to work with. The quality and beauty of Beringer’s vineyards are unlike any other, and I’m grateful to work in an environment with such a diversity of microclimates, terroir, and location – producing Napa Valley’s absolute best. Working in these vineyards each day gives me the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to create world class wines that are truly unique. IC: Which wine makes the top of your list of favorite wines to drink, regularly, that Beringer produces and why? RR: Beringer Private Reserve Chardonnay. Our Private Reserve label is the pinnacle of our wines. Both the Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay are the very best wines we produce in each vintage. The chardonnay comes from our Oakville estate, Gamble Ranch. The vineyard is very mature, and each vine only produce a few clusters. The grapes express a rich yet elegant style of chardonnay with lots of acidity and complex flavors. It’s a classic style of chardonnay. IC: Are there any special experiences or offerings Beringer has that people should partake in when visiting the vineyards? RR: Visiting our property is an experience in itself! Not only is Beringer one of the most beautiful properties in California’s wine country, it’s also listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The homes of both founding brothers, Frederick and Jacob Beringer, are the centerpiece. Frederick ‘s former residence, the Rhine House, is a beautiful German-inspired, 17- room mansion, exhibiting the fine, detailed craftsmanship of the period with beautiful exterior stonework, 26 stained- glass windows (the owl in the library room window is a must-see) and interior wood paneling. It’s where we do our special luxury tasting experiences such as the Veranda Tasting, Salon Tasting, and Single Vineyard Wine & Food Pairing Tasting. You can also enjoy a self-guided tour through our property including a visit to the historic gravity-flow winery and hand-dug caves, a walk through our demonstration vineyard, or enjoy quiet time in the garden by a one-of-a-kind fountain designed by renown Japanese American sculptor Ruth Asawa–dedicated in 1988 to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the planting of the first grape vines in Napa Valley. If you’re looking for something more casual, I personally love the Beringer Backyard Social, a 90-minute experience with relaxing seating in Beringer’s Backyard, access to our Bocce Court, and a bottle of wine per every 4 guests, served with a charcuterie board.

  • The Top Italian Spirit 2023 | Martini and Rossi

A true Italian icon, Martini & Rossi is just as much part of Italian culture as pasta, parmesan and even opera. But, the brand, a beloved vermouth and sparkling wine span of beverages, continues to evolve while simultaneously staying close to its heritage. Since 1863 and throughout the years after the company has offered over 9 types of vermouth and a handful of sparkling wines. From the original, “Rosso” to the more recent, “D’Oro”, Martini & Rossi has continually helped people around the world understand why vermouth is the beverage that will never go out of style as long as the top ingredients are used in its creation. What’s brilliant about the products seen under the Martini & Rossi umbrella is how versatile they are. Of course the Prosecco or Asti are wonderful on their own or mixed with your favorite spirit, but the vermouth is a real star. The delicate Rosso with its herbal and woody flavors is perfect with a touch of Indian tonic. The Fiero is my personal favorite with the delectable citrus flavors paired with white wine and a touch of tonic over ice. The Bianco is for vanilla lovers due to the vanilla flowers at its heart and is a delicate and warm flavor especially lovely during winter. We spoke with Martini & Rossi North American brand ambassador Fabio Raffaelli about the brand’s past, vermouth misconceptions and future plans. IC: Why is Martini & Rossi special in the vermouth and sparkling wine sectors of alcohol? FR: What sets Martini & Rossi apart is the legacy and longstanding tradition of the brand. In 1863, in a small town near Turin, Italy, Alessandro Martini and Luigi Rossi took over the National Wine & Spirits Distillery and crafted an iconic vermouth recipe that has endured for almost 160 years: the Martini & Rossi Rosso. Ever since, the brand has grown globally – known for its refreshing flavors, elevated style, and playful nature– but has always remained true to its pure Italian roots. Not too many brands can claim a 160 year legacy and continued innovation and relevance among young, contemporary consumers. IC: What is the quintessential idea behind each product released into the market? FR: Whether it’s the limited editions that celebrate our history or the classics loved by bartenders across the globe, every bottle of Martini & Rossi starts with the wines, carefully selected from only the best harvests to create the perfect blend. For example, we blend crisp white wines, together with carefully formulated combinations of aromatic fruit, barks, exotic spices and herbs to create a vermouth that’s been one of the most sought-after for generations IC: What are common misconceptions about vermouth? FR: One common misconception is that vermouth is only enjoyable in a martini cocktail. At Martini & Rossi, we take pride in our careful, masterful crafting to create a beautiful blend of botanicals that make irresistible variations of the beloved recipe. From our classic Rosso recipe, to newer, lower ABV vermouth options like Fiero, we make something for everyone, and that pair nicely in cocktails from a martini, to a negroni, and a sbagliato. IC: What is the Martini & Rossi brand ethos? FR: Martini & Rossi takes its iconic, traditional Italian roots and gives them a stylish, unique, contemporary twist. We are both playful and refined, fun and elegant, and we’re built around the core concept of time best shared with loved ones. Through our products, we hope to inspire connection by bringing people together to celebrate the fun, finer things in life. IC: Are there any particular ways that people should consume Martini & Rossi products? FR: The majority of Martini & Rossi’s products are designed so that they be enjoyed on their own or can be incorporated with other ingredients to make a cocktail (Vermouths). For example, Martini & Rossi Fiero can be simply mixed with tonic or soda water – this 50-50 split, poured over ice, makes the Fiero & Tonic or the Fiero & Soda a perfect, refreshing, and elevated twist on the classic spritz. Similarly, a glass of our sparkling wines on their own make the perfect aperitif, but you can also use Fiero as a modifier for example combined with silver tequila in the classic Margaritas. The best way to enjoy and understand Vermouth is to drink it with soda over ice, in Italy we call this Vermuttino, (small vermouth) and it’s part of the classic Italian aperitivo tradition. IC: What exciting things are on the horizon for Martini & Rossi in the near future? FR: Martini & Rossi just launched two new, low-ABV products, called Floreale and Vibrante. These are designed to be low ABV alternatives to our classic aperitifs, so that everyone can enjoy apertivo hour! Floreale and Vibrante are already available in selects markets in the US, and we are excited to be rolling out these products nationally in the coming months.

  • New York’s Top Mobile Airbursh Tanning Expert | Soleil Spray

New York City is loaded with airbrush tanning experts, but not all are created equal. What separates them are nuances that are perceivable only by those who are in tune to detail and variations in color, tone and texture. This is very hard to find. So, when you find an artist who understands all of these things, you shout their name from the rooftop. Soleil Spray, owned and operated by lovely Sonja, is a one-woman operation that offers home visits within the tri-state area for clients that expect the best. I was a recent client of Sonja’s and her Soleil Spray truly made an impact on me for a trip planned to The Caribbean. I booked an appointment with Sonja and her office the day before departing to the island of St. Barths. My natural color from summer rays had begun to fade and, although I use sun protection daily and avoid direct sunlight, the desire to have a golden, sun-kissed glow was alive and well. Sonja arrived to my apartment on time and walked-in with a peppy, sweet and kind demeanor. She introduced herself and set-up quickly. With her, Sonja brought a tent that inflated in seconds to act as a place to spray, her airbrush machine, spray gun, gloves, nail protectant, foot pads and instructions on post-tanning protocol. It was all very comprehensive and easy. Sonja explained my color options to me and analyzed my skin tone and prepared a custom blend that would give me a deep yet natural bonze so, upon arrival to The Caribbean, most would think I had already been laying on its sandy beaches for at least a week. The airbrush process was quick and easy, taking her just 15 minutes to paint me and dry me. I left the solution on for three hours, per her instructions, and rinsed to find the most natural glow on my skin. I was thoroughly impressed with Soleil Spray’s process and efficacy. The holidays and cold months are upon us, a time when we typically meet with friends and loved ones for parties, events and spontaneous gatherings. Soleil Spray is the ideal airbrush tanning operation to keep you looking your best – tanned, glowing and fresh. You won’t find better in New York.

  • America’s Top Online Marketplace For Specialty Foods | Frog Hollow Farm

Frog Hollow Farm is an anomaly, and truly stands as the leading online marketplace for organic fruit and small-batch specialty food prepared in their own kitchens and delivered right to your door. This farm-to-table operation is not new, as they began in 1972, but their offerings stand as time-tested goodness enjoyed by customers nationwide. We recently worked with the brand for a high-profile event in New York City, to introduce an influential group of guests to their incredible product range. Not only did the products arrive beautifully packaged, but the fruit could not have been more fresh and delicious. Their specialty baked goods and food is homemade and frozen for freshness, with minimal work needing to be done on the receiving end. Just bake and serve. All of this has grown from a 280-acre farm in Brentwood, California and truly allows anyone throughout the United States to enjoy farm-to-table food that will knock your socks off. Frog Hollow Farm is impressive not only in their food and fruit offerings, but in the fact that they are completely regenerative. This means that every action and process is taken into consideration to be sure that there is as minimal an impact as possible on the planet. They produce over 3,000 pounds of usable compost every year from fruit, tree clippings, coffee grounds and more. This stands as a commitment to the planet and also shows the pride and care they put into all they do by proxy. Frog Hollow Farm doesn’t even waste their fruit that might be slightly blemished as it is allocated for CSA programs in California and sold at San Francisco Bay-area farmers markets. This operation is literally little to no waste. When we ordered from Frog Hollow Farm we were able to receive the items within just a day or two, and the products delivered were mouth-watering. Our boxes were filled with everything from organic apples, pears, Meyer lemons, papaya, mangos, and more. The dry goods boxes were packed with the most incredible homemade granola, fruit preserves, honey, olive oil, almonds, and phenomenal dried fruit from the farm. The frozen boxes contained what we can only describe as items that looked like they came from your grandmother’s kitchen. Scones, blueberry turnovers, and pear galettes. The ready-to-eat baked goods contained sinfully rich chocolate brownies and pluot cookies. We couldn’t believe all of this came from one place and, although certain fruits come from partner farms, Frog Hollow Farm only works with those that are vetted to be the best. The products from Frog Hollow Farm are perfect for an event, entertaining or simply for every day good living. The event we hosted was in the morning and was ideal for serving scones with apricot compote and olive oil, blueberry turnovers, sliced fruit, galette, granola, smoothies and dried fruit. Our chef prepared the frozen items with no hassle at all as Frog Hollow sends specific instructions of how to bake – which couldn’t be easier. The scones came out golden grown, the turnovers flaky and the galette light and elegant. People could not believe that the items had come all the way from California with this level of freshness. In today’s climate with so many businesses seeking only profit with no regard for their impact on the planet, or with only initiatives for publicity purposes, Frog Hollow Farm couldn’t be further away from this. Their dedication to their customers and the environment is noticeable and admirable, something that many consumers are seeking in the endless array of options to consume. For anyone seeking only the best in organic fruit, baked goods and small-batch dry goods for your holiday entertaining and into the new year, Frog Hollow Farm is our choice for the best.

  • New York’s Top Furniture Cleaning Company | NYC Steam Cleaning

NYC Steam Cleaning is, by far, the top furniture cleaning service in the greater New York area. A true full-service cleaning operation, NYC Steam Cleaning prides itself in offering 24/7 full-service cleaning services for everything from furniture, delicate rugs, wood floors, grout, mold removal and more. The company itself has been around for years and services all five New York City boroughs as well as the tri-state area. Their technicians have been certified by the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration and arrive to their locations fully equipped with the knowledge and experience to get the job done. I was a recent client of NYC Steam Cleaning and they tackled a collection of white Bouclé furniture in a living room area of a loft in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan. We called on them to help give the furniture a refresh, and to help prepare it for the Winter months ahead when its use would be far greater and more wear and tear might be possible. After hosting several events in the space, the furniture needed a deep clean to rid it of some discoloration, dust and dye absorbed from people’s clothing. Setting-up the appointment for cleaning was a true breeze. NYC Steam Cleaning had everything ready to go the same week of appointment request. Their online site is very informative and their booking staff efficient. Before the appointment we received text message alerts, reminders and more to help keep everything on track. When the technicians arrived, they were friendly, kind, explained the process and made sure to walk us through what we could expect post cleaning. They brought in their equipment right away, which included booties to protect the floor from their shoes. Immediately, they began working to bring some life back to the furniture in focus. Over the course of an hour, the NYC Steam Cleaning technicians meticulously steam cleaned two sofas, matching pillow, two side chairs and a bed. Through the cleaning process, they invited us to watch as we could visually see the dirt and dust being lifted away from the furniture. It was such a pleasant surprise and most gratifying to see all of that unwanted matter leave fabric. They were careful with the fabric itself and tested it to be sure of its durability. After the cleaning was completed, the technicians from NYC Steam Cleaning applied scotch guard to help protect the fabric from future stains, spills and more – making us feel better about having that extra layer of protection for such expensive furniture items. The technicians emptied their water buckets in a designated sink we offered them and were on their way. The entire process took less than an hour and, just like, we had new furniture to look at. What a joy. The entire experience was kind and pleasant and, most importantly, effective. For anyone seeking specialized furniture cleaning, rug cleaning, floor restoration and more – NYC Steam Cleaning is unparalleled.

  • THE WORLD’S TOP PRIVATE ISLAND EXPERIENCE | THE BRANDO

The Brando, a fabled, mysterious and ultra-luxury private island paradise sits quietly in the South Pacific, beckoning to any traveler who is interested in seclusion, service and some of the most incredible oceanic experiences the planet has to offer. Rooted deeply in conservation and taking every step with the environment in mind, The Brando is somewhat of a mystery to anyone who has never experienced it first-hand. Of course you can visit the website, read the literature or see the reviews plastered across glossy travel magazines; but to experience it is another thing. It is an opportunity to integrate yourself, for the length of you stay, into a world away where personalized service is paramount and the treasures of the environment are lifted to the forefront of vision. I was a recent guest on the island and I have to say, without fail, that the experience was impactful and memorable – in many ways. Arriving to The Brando is not particularly easy. But, what treasure is easy to find? Whether you’re traveling from East or West, it’s necessary to make a pit stop in Tahiti, before catching your private flight on Air Tetiaroa to The Brando. Getting to Tahiti can be done mainly from California and Seattle, Washington on airlines like Air Tahiti Nui, Air France, French Bee, United Airlines and more. Once on the ground, the staff from The Brando will meet you and you will be escorted to the private terminal area and elegant waiting lounge where Air Tetiaroa operates flights to The Brando. There is no other way to reach the island, not by boat or any other means. It is incredibly protected and naturally protected by a large coral reef making it a favorite hangout of celebrities like Kim Kardashian, Britney Spears and others. Waiting in the lounge for your charter to The Brando is quiet, seamless and simple as you sip a beverage and peer out over the tall palms hanging over the runway. At the time of boarding, the pilot will come and introduce himself to you. He will explain the flight route and weather and flight duration, which is roughly 45 minutes. I boarded the plane, which feels more like a small private jet, and soon we were off. Upon approach to The Brando by air you can’t help but drop your mouth in awe of the majestic turquoise and deep blue waters that seem to melt together like a watercolor painting. The small waves breaking over the untouched coral reefs and the island flora and fauna coming into view the closer you get. When you first see it it’s like a fairy tale because all you can think is, “How does this place even exist”, which is the same thoughts that sparked its purchase by American actor Marlon Brando decades ago. He too, after filming a movie nearby, couldn’t help but be moved to call the paradise home as he had never seen anywhere as beautiful. I landed safely on the island and was met my the hotel manager and staff who quickly unloaded baggage. I was greeted by a traditional Polynesian dancer and musician singing and playing a welcome song. As I was handed a welcome drink and a flower lai rested upon my shoulders, I knew this was going to be a special two days in paradise. Before you arrive to The Brando all of your information is taken and formalities completed so that you really do not have to do any of that upon arrival. This is so refreshing because, after traveling all that way, people just want to start their vacation and relax. Immediately I was invited onto a golf cart and taken to my private beachfront villa. The Brando offers 35 one, two and three-bedroom villas as well as a “residence” that is like a compound on the property. Here you don’t have to worry about vying for beach space, privacy or alone time as this island, while you are there, is literally yours. The Brando is a sanctuary of sun, pristine beaches, coral reefs, luxury villas, fabulous dining venues and copious amounts of tropical cocktails. Typically, all meals and beverages are included and you can opt to choose a package that works for your trip needs and budget. As I pulled-up to my villa, I was delighted by the gorgeous architecture and the way it sat effortlessly on the sand amongst an array of tropical foliage. The one-bedroom villa is outfitted with a spacious living room, bar area, office area, huge bedroom, wardrobe/dressing area and bathroom. It comes complete with an outdoor shower and tub, as well as a terrace that melts right into the beach with a private small infinity pool and covered gazebo area for watching sunsets and relaxing. The room is technologically advanced with smart televisions, a phone system, music system and iPads for ordering food any time of day. It’s basically the epitome of a well-equipped home that, in all reality, you never want to leave. But, leaving now and then is a must. If you can pry yourself off your own private stretch of beach you will find that The Brando has a lot on offer. Around the gorgeous pathways shaded by lazy palms you will find bikes to ride around, tennis courts, pool area and the ability to throw on a snorkel and goggles and explore the atoll at your own pace. Swimming at the beautiful Mermaid Bay is a must. If you are interested, you can take part in the “Ultimate Tour” which will immerse you in all the history, culture, marine and bird life around the atoll. It’s a phenomenal way to really see everything and understand The Brando from a three-dimensional perspective. I loved simple walks around the paths as well as the tour I took part on to snorkel around the coral reefs. Everything you see here is untouched and natural – no fish feeding, no baiting…just nature at its finest. On-site you can even hear talks given by marine biologists and scientists who work on the atoll in various conservation projects. After days in the sun and water, you can really work-up and appetite. At The Brando, you can belly-up to Bob’s Bar – which is delightful. Bob was a personal friend of Marlon Brando and the bar is named in his honor. Here, bartenders will whip up the most delectable cocktails using fresh tropical ingredients that are from the atoll or other Polynesian islands. You can choose from lunch or dinner at Beachcomber Cafe which serves Polynesian and French-inspired cuisine, Les Mutinés which offers fine French and international food, and Nami Teppanyaki which focuses on an intimate Japanese experience with specialties from the land and sea. The food at all the restaurants is delicious. Guests can also simply order whatever they wish and dine in the comfort of their own villa, so the possibilities are plentiful. Aside from relaxing beachside at The Brando I recommend spending a few hours at the Varua Te Ora Polynesian spa. This spa is so beautiful and is tucked amongst a small wetland on the atoll. The unique pod-like treatment rooms are architecturally arresting and the treatments offered are thoughtful and indulgent. I was able to to enjoy a massage which, after hours and hours of travel, was much needed. The massage was done with Polynesian ingredients and in the most professional and effective way possible. I left that 60 minutes completely refreshed and with more mobility in my muscles, making swimming and exploring the coral reefs that much easier. My two days at The Brando were pure bliss. I have been fortunate to travel to some of the most exciting destinations and to some of the most special hotels in the world, all which have something interesting to offer. But The Brando is unique in not only their ethos but in their location, privacy and their dedicated efforts to take care of the land and place from which it operates. There is an innate respect there that is rare to find in the hospitality world, when the objective is usually just money driven. Iberia Airlines , the Oneworld partner, is Spain’s flag carrier and has recently revamped their look and offerings to make them one of the best options when flying to Europe and beyond. Offering an extensive network between the United States, The Caribbean, Mexico, and Latin America through their hub in Madrid, the possibilities are endless on where you can fly with this multi-awarded carrier. I was a recent guest on a flight between New York and Madrid, connecting to Rome, Italy. I was flying their newly introduced Premium Economy cabin and was excited to try this new product. Iberia invested a great deal of time and money redesigning and renovating their fleet to offer more choices to passengers looking to fly in style. I was flying during a very busy time and knew my flight would likely be full, and it was. But, much to my surprise, Iberia made up for this with individualized service and a stellar product in-flight that left me impressed and ready to fly them again. My flight was around 9:00 pm and I was flying out of the British Airways terminal at JFK Airport. I was checked-in quickly and welcomed warmly by the airport staff. At the gate, I was welcomed again and met the lead gate agent before boarding. Iberia did a wonderful job of keeping things organized during the boarding process and everyone got on the plane easily for an on-time departure. I found my seat quickly in the bulkhead section of the Premium Economy cabin and was able to store my bags and settle-in for the flight. The Premium Economy cabin is separated from both the Economy and Business Class cabins. What’s lovely about this cabin is the separation, so you feel like you’re in your own little world – which is nice on an aircraft that transports several hundred people from point A to point B. I found the cabin to be elegantly designed with ergonomic seats that have the capability to recline to an impressive level. The new television and media screens are large and inviting with a wide range of entertainment offerings during your flight. As we took off I was offered a beverage and kicked back for the roughly seven hour flight. My cabin was serviced very well and efficiently on the flight. Iberia does a great job of projecting a friendly atmosphere and making customers feel at home. I ordered my meal which was served promptly and tried my best to eat it as quickly as possible so I could sleep as much as possible. The food was very good and Iberia offered a wide selection of Spanish wines to go with the meal. In no time, I was drifting away to sleep. As I awoke we were about 35 minutes from landing in Madrid. The flight attendant offered me an expedited breakfast and coffee, which I appreciated. Although the new Premium Economy is not a 180-degree lie-flat seat, Iberia does offer this in their beautiful business class cabin. The Premium Economy seat reclines enough with the footrest to provide a very comfortable position for rest and sleep. Landing in Madrid was a breeze and we were early, which was nice, so I could clear EU customs and connect to my flight to Rome. I loved my Iberia experience in Premium Economy and know that they make an excellent choice in carrier between North America and Europe.

  • BORA BORA’S MUST-VISIT DINING EXPERIENCE | LAGOON BY JEAN GEORGES

Lagoon by Jean Georges is a culinary masterpiece located inside the beautiful St. Regis Hotel Bora Bora. Conceptualized by renowned French Chef Jean Georges Vongerichten, this restaurant essentially floats above the famous turquoise lagoon that Bora Bora has been immortalized for the world over. The dining destination is open not just to hotel guests, but to others who are staying on the island and who are seeking a true fine dining experience that marries French and Polynesian flavors to create some of the most memorable dishes on the island. I was a guest recently for dinner and found the restaurant to be incredibly beautiful, relaxed and on-point with their delivery of service and inventive food. I arrived to the restaurant from another hotel property and was collected by the St. Regis private boat. After a smooth ten-minute ride gliding across the lagoon, I pulled-up to a magical, candlelit open-air room with unobstructed sea views and diners sipping cocktails in the distance. I began the meal with a drink on the terrace overlooking the water and was able to enjoy the night sky, stars and light breeze as my table was prepared. As soon as it was ready, I was welcomed by the manager and led over the stunning glass bottom floor to my table. The glass bottom is interesting because you can see the sea life in real time as you dine. My meal was set to be five courses and I opted for a chef’s selection. The server was pleasant, from France, and made sure to ask for any food allergies prior to the beginning of dinner. Like an elegant dance, I was brought an amuse bouche paired with a glass of vintage champagne and followed by a delicious starter. Obviously, because of the location, the menu leads very seafood heavy. And no one is complaining. The starter, which was composed of sweet prawns with a delicate sauce was absolutely mouthwatering. Not only was it beautiful, but each bite burst with flavor. The room was busy, but elegant. Cocktails and wine were flowing. I peered around between each course and watched with contentment as my fellow diners savored each bite. Being that Bora Bora is a bucket list destination that people oftentimes wait a long time before being able to travel there, experiencing a restaurant like Lagoon makes it that much more special. My following courses were delivered effortlessly and included fresh tuna, the local ‘Uravena fish, mahi-mahi and bonito. The fish here is some of the best in the world and the team at Lagoon are experts at preparing it in the most elegant yet unpretentious way. My meal at Lagoon by Jean Georges did include beef, which was a nice addition to the lightness of the seafood. Each course was paired with mainly French wine and ranged from extraordinary whites to light reds that made sense for dishes that included land meat. I was in true heaven and the surrounding ambiance cannot be matched on Bora Bora. Every traveler to Bora Bora must visit Lagoon by Jean Georges. Whether you’re staying at The St. Regis or not it’s an experience that you really cannot get anywhere else in French Polynesia. The restaurant is truly a three-dimensional moment in time that addresses all your senses in smell, sight, taste, hearing and even touch with the special fabrics and materials used at your table. There’s simply nothing like it.

  • THE BEST FALL WELLNESS INFUSION | IV DRIPS

IV Drips is not like any other IV therapy offered on the market due to their unique and individualized approach to each client. A true concierge-style outfit, this collective of nurses, located throughout major markets in the United States like New York and South Florida, aims at customizing each formula to make you feel your very best. The first step is to call for an appointment at which time all your information will be taken – including health information to be sure you are viable for a drip. This can be for something as simple as a hangover or something more long-term like fatigue and lack of energy. IV Drips offers solutions for things like boosting immunity, increasing stamina and even helping your skin glow from the inside out. But, the basis here is hydration, which anyone with a busy life can likely benefit from. I have been a client of IV Drips and, as someone who has tried many at-home and in-office IV treatments, find that their level of service is unparalleled. I have received drips in my home and what a pleasure that is. Instead of getting in your car or on the train, the nurse comes to you with a backpack filled with your pre-selected ingredients for the drip that will be infused into your system, replenishing you with vitality. In the New York area, you can opt to go to one of their clinics in Manhattan or Brooklyn, but I always urge people to opt for the at-home treatments because of the convenience. Although this comes at a higher price, there is something to be said about being able to fix yourself up in the comfort of your living room. Nurses arrive on time, within a scheduled one-hour time slot and take no more than 5 minutes to set up. One thing all the nurses have in common who work for IV Drips is kindness and professionalism. Many of them work at hospitals on top of their role with IV Drips, which is a hard job and takes its toll. So, those who travel for IV Drips from client to client are more than thrilled to be using their skills in this more calm and elevated situation, which can be felt in their demeanor. I have genuinely loved all the nurses who have come to my home and they’ve all been experts at wielding needles and getting the IV into my vein with ease. I have had IVs with everything in them from Vitamin C, B, Glutathione and NAD+ therapy. I always recommend the basic vitamins to people for overall wellness but adding Glutathione for a nice liver detoxification. After your treatment, which averages roughly 45 minutes, you will feel hydrated, energized and a general sense of well-being. These IVs have helped me through everything from jet lag to sickness. I recommend them especially on the day of travel to get in front of jet lag. Airplanes tend to dry you out and most people never drink enough water while en route to their final destination. These will help you arrive feeling more refreshed and rested. A real trick for people on the road a lot. IV drips is a must for anyone looking to keep their wellness and hydration at its peak.
